Format: Paperback
I found this book dificult to get through even though it did not go into excessive detail. It is written without an ounce of humour and no attempt to relate to the reader is made. The full colour format is not made full use of but without it the book would be unreadable. The more productive and "fun" aspects of photoshop are left until the end thus it is difficult for beginners to feel as if they have achived anything. Try teach yourself photoshop 5.5 in 24 hours by the same publisher, much better and cheaper if longer. Then again you need a better referance for such an able application.

I found the colour plates very useful. I also like the fact that each page does not dwell on the subject in vast depth. Ideal for the Non Pro user

Great for people new to photoshop 21 Mar. 2000
By L. D. from BK - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book is great if you are new to Photoshop. You can't make a mistake because there are large color screen shots of every single task. I went through the entire book in 2 weeks and have made some great web graphics. This is a must have if you want quick results.

Nice---but wanted more.. 12 April 2000
By jgkimo - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Being a beginner when it comes to Photoshop & reading the reviews I purchased the book. It is very nice, visually stunning and very well written, however most of the screen shots are for MAC while the written explanations are Windows based. The book covers each step briefly, yet maintains a level that everyone can understand. It left me wanting much more...Nevertheless; I find it very useful as a reference manual because of the short, brief & concise explanations.

Was looking for more 3 April 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
After reading the first review, this sounded like the prefect book to buy. I just got Adobe Photoshop 5.5 and needed a beginner type book. It is set up for beginners, but I think the explanations are too brief. This book is more of an overview of features that a how-to-use book. I returned it. Still looking for something better.

Great for Beginners 25 Nov. 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I have been using (and teaching) Photoshop since its beginning and have a half dozen books on the subject. I consider this one of the very best books for beginners. The color illustrated steps really make it easy to use. The subjects covered should be more than enough for any beginner to handle in a 12 month period. What it doesn't do is clone you through someone else's masterpiece. There are other books that may be better, but not for beginners with a shortage of time!

as a beginner i learned very good from it, i was intending

the book i am able to work on my own. the book only
lacks giving us several made pictures giving us more
