Book Description

9 Oct 2009

In this year's Britain's got Talent Demi and Lagi Demetriou - aka Stavros Flatley - won the hearts of the nation with their brilliant Greek/Irish dance routines, their incredible father/son bond and their contagious love of the ridiculous. Here Demi amd Lagi show us how we can all can jump on the bandwagon and learn to become just that little bit Greek.

History is stuffed full of famous Greeks - Simons, Anthonys and Georges by the dozen. Archimedes, obviously. Zeus. Winston Churchill, Barack Obama, Brad Pitt. As Simon Cowell would surely agree, clearly anyone who has ever been anyone is a tiny bit Greek, and you can be too. You just have to follow some basic rules - learn to feel enormous joy whatever your situation, eat Greek (calories - consume as many as possible), exercise Greek (see the Zorba workout), practice the art of seduction (How Greek is Your Love?), bond with your sons, worship your daughters (and make sure no one else does until they're at least 25!). Worry, worry, worry. Live, live, live!

Packed full of photos of our Greek heroes showing how to spin plates, make kebabs and Irish dance (Greek style!), this book is the perfect read for the millions and millions of Britain's Got Talent fans and absolutely anyone with a funny bone.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY KEBABULOUS! 8 Oct 2009
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This has to be the funniest book I've read in years! It was worth the price of admission just for the hilarious photographs - then the moment I started turning pages I was laughing out loud. If these guys ever stop dancing they can move straight into stand-up. Totally brilliant - and that's all my Christmas present worries over and dealt with, as soon as Amazon get some more stock in!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hillarious! 22 Oct 2009
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is not only a delightfully amusing book, but also alarmingly accurate, and I should know, I am married to a Greek person, so it is all true!

To start with, I should say that I don't have any Greek blood in me at all.
I have known a few Greeks in my time, (and a few Geeks come to that!), but none of their DNA rubbed off on me.

After reading this book, and falling about laughing quite a bit, which is a little bit Greek in itself, I find myself firing up the BBQ on the snow-covered lawn in from of my house and inviting all the neighbours to bring dead sheep along for me to cook!

Ouzo is now my favourite drink, apart from Retsina, which comes a close second.

Instead of washing up after dinner I now simply smash the plates on the floor, which is much more fun, but does seem to upset the wife.

Get this book, it will change your life! (Or it might just change your wife!) ;-)

5.0 out of 5 stars How to be (a little bit) Greek - Stavros Flatley 27 Nov 2009
Format:Hardcover
Anyone who has had any interaction with Greece or Cyprus cannot fail to recognise someone they know whilst reading this book! Just as "My big fat Greek wedding" hit the spot for films so this little gem does so for books. Brilliant! Britain certainly HAS got talent. Well done Stavros & Lagi.

The book is quite a funny read but I wouldn't recommend spending £9-10 on it. If you can get it second hand then I would. Mine was about £2 and in perfect condition.
