More About the Author

Alison McNicol is UK-based writer, crafter, cake maker and creative business expert, and author of a host of books on sewing, craft, cakes and creative entrepreneurship.

Before the writing bug struck, Alison also created a successful chain of branded sewing clubs, and her My Sewing School package is now helping women pass on their skills and make money teaching kids and adults to sew in their local area (www.mysewingschool.co.uk).

Following the success of her Sew Easy Kits range of sewing and craft kits, Alison decided to share her business experience to write "The Craft Business Handbook: The Essential Guide to Making Money from your Crafts and Handmade Products". A companion book, featuring interviews with 30 of her fellow craft business owners followed: "Craft Business Heroes - 30 Creative Entrepreneurs Share The Secrets Of Their Success".

Alison is also a passionate cake decorator and applied her cake and business skills to author "Start A Cake Business From Home - How To Make Money from your Handmade Celebration Cakes, Cupcakes, Cake Pops and more!"

Got this to read on my ipad as I’ve started to realise that e books are so much cheaper ( and kill less trees !) than buying new craft books all the time. What a great beginners book. I found the colour illustrations easy to follow and the projects look great – a nice variety. I’ve made the pom pom scarf for my son and am about to tackle the matching hat for him. Really good beginners book, highly recommended.

I bought this on my kindle fire purely because I wanted to read something straight away and it wasn't an expensive purchase. What a bargain! Within seconds, I was reading about changing will colours, increasing and decreasing stitches, casting on, knit stitch and purl stitch complete with colour photographs and steep by step instructions. Very useful and all art the touch of a button. Would definitely recommend to get you familiarised with the subject.

I haven't picked up knitting needles for 20 years or more, so this was a good little book to jolt my memory. I think, however, I would have preferred a hard copy rather than a Kindle copy, but that's just a personal prejudice.

Well pleased with my choice. The instructions are easy to understand and suitable for all ages. A good introduction to knitting and also a good refresher choice if it's been a long time since you last knitted and perhaps needed a memory jog.

An OK book. Has a couple of easy projects for beginners but was maybe more suitable for children than adults.

The diagrams are very clear and precise. Easy to knit patterns in last half of the book. Quite a good buy.
