Overall quite interesting, this book tells the stories of 21 companies, from the founders' initial idea to where they are today. Companies include Adidas, Lonely Planey, KFC, Pizza Hut, Apple, RIM, Nokia, Sony, etc. Most companies are from the USA, UK, Sweden and Japan, although a handful of other European countries are also mentioned as well as 2 from Australia/New Zealand.
The basis of this book is to provide a historical story behind each company. It's quite interesting to know where companies come from, BUT this book has been designed for easy reading - each company (chapter) is no more than a few pages long.
If you're looking for a "how to make money" book, then this isn't for you - the information provided is relatively high level, most of which can probably be found on each company's website. Text is often repeated, which takes up valuable space in the book (especially for a book with only 210 pages!).
The other frustration is that the book is inconsistent at times - for example 11 pages for Coca-Cola and 7 for KFC - the level of detail does sometimes vary.
Overall a good book to give you insight into how these companies started off and developed. It's not the right book to provide a detailed history into each organisation (hence this 3-star review).
I'd personally treat this as a "commuter book" - ideal for reading during short journeys and when you have a few spare minutes at home. And if you like to know how companies started (but don't want to read a whole pile of literature) then this is the book for you!
