Product Description

Product Description

A real life teenager, 15 year old jellyellie, dishes the dirt on what she and the many fellow teenagers she interviews really think. Essential reading for all parents, she explains what teenagers think about everything from school to designer labels, sex to money. She also discusses what encourages teenagers to co-operate with their parents and what pushes all their rebellious buttons. "How Teenagers Think" is the book for parents whose relationships with their teenage kids is fraught, and who find their children hard to fathom. It will help them get inside the teenage mindset and encourage them to understand their kids better.

About the Author

jellyellie, a 15-year-old girl from Surrey, made her global media debut at the age of 13 with her bluejacking website. Described by The Guardian as "the voice of the MSN generation", she has written How Teenagers Think after spotting a lack of parenting books from the teenage point of view. When she's not creating worldwide phenomena, jellyellie likes to playe the guitar, fly her power kite and surf the web

5.0 out of 5 stars About teens by a teen, 13 July 2007
This review is from: How Teenagers Think: An Insider's Guide to Living with a Teenager (Paperback)
It's not just another book by a grownup, however good books by grownups might be. It's a book by a teen about teens - and so from the horse's mouth, as it were. But for all that, the attitude and approach is still very mature, and the communication of the insights is skillfully done, without arrogance, and with awareness that maybe not every teen is the same. There are good rules of thumb here, not only for parents, but for anyone who wants to be able to better understand and relate to the teens of today.

5.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing perspective on parenting teenagers., 30 Jun 2007

I have read lots of parenting books and several on teenagers but never one from the teenager's point of view.Jellyellie says it like it is from where she's standing at the moment and she shares conversations she has had with her friends.I was intrigued to get this glimpse into today's teenage world. The sections on music and fashion contain information that only an 'insider' could know.
My teenage son was so curious about this book that he read it too and now it provides a really good starting point for discussions with him about issues we need to resolve. It has already come off the shelf on three different occasions to see what it was that Jellyellie had to say about pocket money, part time jobs and financing hobbies.
A lively read and some positive ideas that will get all the family talking.
