Product Description

Synopsis

Glenn Doman has demonstrated time and time again that very young children are far more capable of learning than we ever imagined. He has taken his remarkable work -work that explores why children from birth to age six learn better and faster than older children do - and given it practical application. As the founder of The Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential, he has created home programmes that any parent can follow. "How To Teach Your Baby To Read" shows just how easy and pleasurable it is to teach a young child to read by providing skills that are basic to academic success. It explains how to begin and expand the reading programme, how to make and organise necessary materials, and how to more fully develop your child's reading potential. By following the simple daily programme in a relaxed and loving way, you will enable your child to experience the joy of learning - as have millions of children the world over. With "How To Teach Your Baby To Read", you can give your baby a powerful advantage that will last a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars 32 years of Satisfaction, 20 Oct 2007
By Shona Irvine "Language lover" (Hampshire, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I taught my daughter to read using the Glenn Doman method in 1975 when she was 2 years old. It was one of the best things I have ever done.Since then I have spent 35 years teaching English and French in France and the the UK. |I have used the approach in many ways to develop language skills; I am now starting to teach my 16 month old grandson and, eventually, his 6 week old brother using the same principles. This makes learning to read great fun for both parent and child.New research shows that 9 month old children are at the most receptive time in their lives for learning and absorbing language. This is not 'pushing' the child to achieve but encouraging the skills that allow the child to develop in and at his or her own pace. The world is at their feet..................for the price of a paper back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing results!, 19 Feb 2008
By David J. Swift (Morpeth, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
We taught our two sons to read using the Glenn Doman method in 1980. Both boys were reading Lord of the Rings well before they were five. They devoured books and still do. Made a significant contribution to their educational progress. Eldest was 3 and youngest 18 months when we started. Bought the latest edition for eldest to use for his son due in May. The method has been updated based on further research. If you follow the method and have fun with your child while doing so, you will be amazed. It will be one of the best gifts you will give your child.

I was born in 1970 in Greece. My mother used the Greek version of this book to teach me to read. I could read by 18 months old. It really works!!
