About the Author
Sally Burgess is co-author (with Richard Acklam) of First Certificate Gold (1996; 2000) and Advanced Gold (forthcoming). Sally teaches English and an introductory sociolinguistics course in the English Department at the University of La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain. She holds an MA (TEFL) and a Ph.D from the University of Reading, UK.

I found this book very useful when I was doing my TEFL course, and have used it a lot since becoming a teacher in order to refresh myself. There are eight chapters, which guide you on how to:
1. be a successful exams teacher
2. plan a course and choose materials
3. teach for reading exams
4. teach for writing exams
5. teach grammar and vocabulary for exams
6. teach for listening exams
7. teach for speaking exams
8. teach for low level exams
It helped me learn what actual teaching would involve on my part, and I read it alongside taking my TEFL course. Very helpful guide book. I hope you can make use of it.

I've only read up to teaching for Reading exams but so far it is extremely useful and will be my bible in trying to get my 2 Esol classes through Cambridge ESOL exams.
Format:Paperback
This book is suitable for those who have never taught exam classes before. It is a compendium of teaching tips for those who know neither what the Cambridge ESOL(etc.) exams consist of, nor how to gear lessons towards students obtaining the certificates. Anyone else can easily do without it.
