5.0 out of 5 stars Advanced but accessible, and totally bonkers 5 Jun 2012
By beccalikesbooks TOP 1000 REVIEWER
This book is wonderfully, gloriously mad. If you're getting bored of knitting the same old things, this is for you! The patterns in here are so incredibly creative they'd all be a joy to make - and may be a welcome challenge for even the most experienced knitter.

I am not an experienced knitter - even so, the careful and thoughtful way this book has been planned means that even I was able to get stuck in. This book is advanced, but accessible. As well as the stunning tea cosies, those projects which seem a bit intimidating are accompanied by `mini projects' to introduce you to the skill involved, eg. the Willow tea cosy (possibly my favourite design, looks like willow-pattern china)is accompanied by the lovely Blue Scarf pattern, which introduces you to double-knitting (where back-to-back fabrics are knitted simultaneously using two threads on one pair of needles... phew) in a simpler way. Likewise, the Isabella cosy is beautifully frilly, so Prior has included a smaller project to practice on - a frilly little knitted coat for a teddy bear. There is also a lovely Blue Beret and Le Grand Sac a Main (an incredible bamboo-handled bag).

As a lot of the patterns involve knitting in the round using the Magic Loop method - something I've never done before - I was glad to start on Egg Daisy, which is an adorable flower that drapes over the egg to keep it warm. And it's a success so far! A great skill to have for knitting socks etc too, so I'm very pleased! Admittedly, I found the instructions for the Magic Loop method in the book a little confusing and had to look it up on YouTube - which Prior herself recommends, so I didn't feel too bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars To Infinity and Beyond 11 Jun 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If you knit and love tea cosies buy this - or if you do only one of these buy it anyway. Unlike her first two books there are a few patterns for other lovely things but teacosies take centre stage. It's a fun book, and the instructions are easy to follow. The wool she uses is expensive but I used cheaper wool and my tea cosies still changed my world and that of my friends. The pics are fabulous and on a gloomy rainy summer day in June it as good as a box of chocolate and Casablanca on the tv. Well, Almost.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 22 May 2014

lovely patterns but instructions could be clearer. Downloaded to my kindle fire and on several of the patterns the first two or three letters/numbers of the lines are missing - having to guess at yarn quantities!

This little book is great fun and informative. I can't wait to get making some fabulous different tea cosies. My friend lent me I another book - really wild tea cosies by the same author, which was the reason I looked for more. I m glad I found this one and it will be well used.
