5.0 out of 5 stars effective and gentle aid to assist in healing and growth, 19 Oct 1998
By A Customer
I first read this book 17 years ago when I was going thru a very painful divorce; it taught me how to nurture and care for myself during that process and I have since given a hundred copies away to others to assist them on their journeys of self-discovery in their lives. This book and it's 3 capable and talented authors offer hundreds of practical suggestions to alleviate suffering and apply some emotional salve to wounded feelings and attitudes. I even learned basic nutrition and some key health concepts from this small, easy to read book. I especially like the simple prose and unpretentious, straigh-forward way the help is presented to you. In keeping with the subject matter, the info is presented in small chunks, often humor or great insight into this common human experience we call Life. I love the poem about being too sad to go to Church; could God make a housecall that day? Buy it; read it; apply it; then email me and tell me I was right. Shalom.

5.0 out of 5 stars It fits every mood..., 21 April 2004
Initially, I was concerned that the book would only deal with people who had lost their love through death (this thought was based purely upon the title of the book) but I soon discovered that this was not the case at all. This book seems to cover so many situations, I am sure that every one would identify with something in it! It is a fantastic read, some things made me chuckle, some made me cry, but it all made me realise that I couldn't posibly be the only one in the world to feel like this and that things would have to improve.
I was so impressed with some of the stuff in this book that I typed some of the passages out and framed them to go on my wall! I would recommend this to anyone who has been (dare I say it!) "dumped", as so much of the material applies.
It made me feel better anyway and I just could not put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, 20 Jul 1999
By A Customer
Many years ago when I was in my early 20's I broke up with a man that I was going to marry. He made the break up as difficult as possible. Over the next year, I lost 20 pounds (I was a size 2), didn't eat, and lost total control over my emotional stability. My mother gave me this book and it was a godsend to me. It gave me action steps to take everyday that finally gave me back the control I needed. Since then I have passed the book on to many people and finally after my last move I cannot find it. This book is a must for anyone and everyone who has ever lost something and mourns for it. I thank the author for sharing the wisdom that has made such a difference in my life. I will be getting a replacement and hoping I never need it.
