I must admit I'm no slouch at work and a firm believer that hard work means success.

Basically, this book is just that. If your an introvert then this book will be ideal to break you out of your shell. However, if you already an extrovert then this book may not be for you. It's all about team skills, motivation, confidence etc etc.

Yes, some introverts do have great brains, but this isn't about being a professor of something. This is a book on success in the work place.

It kind of builds self esteem and awareness of your surroundings. But, it is not a book that will suddenly allow you to be a adonis at work. I gave this book to a colleague who I feel is an introvert and just plain shy. This book did nothing for her, she said it was interesting, but she lacks confidence and no book can build your confidence, but you need to dive in and be that person. I think people who have multple personalities are the best people. As there personalities adapt to any situation.

So, to conclude this book is okay, but dont expect it to give you spuer confidence, you either have confidence or you need to build it up gradually. It doesn't happen over night.

Remember confidence is key....

'Behind every behaviour their is a positive intent' - a key tenant of NLP ( Neuro Linguistic Programming) is that we're all doing the best we can. I have to say that that may be the case for some people but for others its not - malicious or disinterested behaviour is much more a characteristic of work a day life ..
This book contends that your success at work is ALL down to you - your attitude , willingness to learn. observing the people you work for and reflecting back to them what it is they do
And to be fair the book walks you through the main steps of NLP including a Postitive attitude , confidence . energy , communication flexibility and so on - giving you advice along the way as to how to use that to be successful
And I think its all good - but I would have a little voice of caution that in spite of all of this it will not make it happen on its own - NLP is a vey positive mindset (and it does not take a genius to realise that looking like a grumpy sod at work is not going to help promotion prospects) BUT it is not a cure all
But this book seems like a good introduction to the concept

I am personally not a fan of self help books, psycometrics, assesment centres or personality profiles.

NLP initially had me raising an eyebrow thinking 'oh, another management identikit guidebook'.

However, this guide can be interpreted in a number of ways. Thinking positively from morning to night, influencing others with enthusiasm and passion or just planning to be at your best. The book does skate close to my tolerance level with it's scoring system results following a personality profile however, the book has good tips around self belief in daily life.

The plus points here are the reference points. Rapport, networking, team building and goal setting are all needed in the professional workplace. This book covers straightforward plans for being a more positive and influential person, encouraging people along with your goals and ultimately increasing personal success.

Overall a good read but do balance it's opinions and techniques with your own personal style.
