I don't watch a great deal of rom-coms, but have liked the odd few, which tend not to be the conventional kind. This is one of those, with some laugh out loud moments and a genuine feel good factor that I always like in any film. I'd say that it can be a little predictable in places, but then most rom-coms are, I think this is more the nature of the genre than a reflection of the film itself. I think that this does have an interesting premise and I enjoyed watching it, it never felt dull which I've found with some other films of this type. I think it is also important to support independent films and homegrown writing and film talent and to encourage and give constructive criticism so people can improve their work, but always feel that what they are doing is appreciated or not simply dismissed.
If you like a film that doesn't take itself too seriously, is fun, will make you laugh and has a genuine feel good feeling, then you can't go wrong with How to Stop Being a Loser.
