Before I read this book I was pretty baffled by the stock market. Now, I feel I have more of a grasp of the ins and outs of how it all works. The terminology is clearly explained and there's even a glossary at the back to help. It's a prudent, focussed account for the beginner investor. Well worth a read (although the heading on the back page made me squirm a little). 'This is a book for people who want to make money'... in large font.

4.0 out of 5 stars Broader than the title suggests 14 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback
It turns out this book is not only about the stock market, which it covers successfully and in depth, but also about derivatives, foreign exchange, bonds, international investment and UK taxation. It also covers the theories of investment that drive professional investors.

It is subtitled "The Guerilla Investor's Secret Handbook", which implies it is going to reveal investment secrets to help the beginner make money, but more prosaically it ends up (probably quite rightfully) advising patience, and that there is no such thing as a fast or easy buck.

So, while it doesn't teach you a fail-safe way for making fast money from the stock market, for anyone who doesn't have shares or investments or doesn't really understand them, it is an in-depth introduction. If you are in this group and want to get a solid grounding, I'd thoroughly recommend it.
