I thought this book was very thorough. It covers a lot of ground and covers it very well indeed.
Sure, you will need to read other books for more on say SEO, email marketing and email newsletters - to name but three areas - but this is a very good starting point and it goes into a fair bit of depth anyway. - and easily enough for a first years or so on the internet.
It is especially strong on some of the basic marketing points - and even as a veteran of having read 10 or so books on the internet and net marketing, I still found some of the advice very good and the points clearly made with no waffle.

A good checklist 1 Feb 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
I read the 2009 edition of this book and found it to be a comprehensive checklist of the things to consider when starting and running an internet business. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

A couple of points to note however.

Firstly, what it isn't is a book about how to think up an idea for an internet business. It doesn't claim to be and what few ideas there are thrown in is passing. So if you have your business idea fine, if not then wait until you have to buy this.

Secondly like any book about the internet it will soon be out of date. This dates from 2009. There is very little mention of Twitter or Facebook for example as a way of marketing your on line business so keep an eye out for updates.

This is basically a junior-school-level introduction to business, padded out with management speak and with the word "internet" pasted in at random. I'm far from an expert on the subject, having only run a couple of fairly small internet businesses, but i already knew everything contained in this book, and derived absolutely no inspiration from it. The only thing i didn't know was that it's a good idea to breach google's terms when using them to advertise, as chapter 11 suggests.
Save time and headache, get scott fox's book instead. This one's rubbish.
