If you don't understand most textbooks you're asked to read then start here. This book is fantastic, it helps you make sense of anything you're likely to read. It is written in a friendly way that doesn't make you feel stupid and the assessments in it work towards increasing your understanding.

The thousand page textbooks that lie ahead of students are always intimidating. The advice laid out within in a form that is not a massive book in itself is designed to help prepare students for the mounds of education that lies before them. With a solid set of appendixes and an index, "How to Read Texts" is enthusiastically recommended for those facing a tough pile of books in their future.
