If like me you have become a fan of the Late Night Poker series recently screened, then this book takes you to the next level of poker wonderfully and is a great companion to LNP. The book primarily deals with Texas Hold 'Em but does also touch on Stud/Omaha etc. The reason to buy this book however is for the later chapters on Poker Practice and the Analysis Of Hands. These give you an insight into what you and your players should be thinking about when you get certain hands, detail the advantages and disadvantages of game elements such as position, and the Quiz section at the end gives you the opportunity to read two often conflicting responses from professionals to situations you may find yourself in. Through reading this book and playing regularly you will find yourself developing your game and your style of playing the game rapidly. Whether you will win also, well I'll leave that up to you! This book is a great re-read as well - you can just keep coming back to it to identify where you may have gone wrong in a previous tournament, or how to handle a winning or losing streak. Great book!

How to play poker and win is a great book for someone who wants to know how to play poker. The book explains how to play such games as draw poker, 3 + 5 card stud poker and texas hold'em. The book has not too much depth so you don't ever fail to understand what they are saying. There are tips about how to play certain types of hands from the people that you want to get tips from, i.e. Poker Pro's who leave casinos with more money than they came in with. Overall the book isn't to long, it gives enough information - no more - no less.

I bought this book after seeing a few episodes of Late Night Poker and not being able to understand any of the rules. After just a couple of chapters, I was well versed in the rules, and had even learnt a few useful tactics.

The first half of the book deals mainly with the game mechanics, with a few tactical ideas being developed. The second half deals with actually participating in the game. Many, many situations are analysed, and the different options are discussed and weighed up.

Armed with this knowledge, I taught my mates at college the rules and we played most lunchtimes in the common room. I also now hold regular poker nights at home for friends, playing for about £10. It's a great nights entertainment-beer and cards.

Written for Texas Hold 'em players only.
Only buy this book if you wish to learn about Texas Hold 'em. Steer clear if you wish to learn about straight poker. The theory section deals exclusively with Texas Hold 'em.
