Some of the my favorite action images were taken by a French photographer named Jacques-Henri Lartigue, who turned out his best photographs while under the age of 18 by using a very basic focal plane camera at the beginning of the twentieth century. Read the first page

This is a highly readable and informative book written by someone who really knows his job. James Mann is a full-time working photographer specialising in cars. The book starts with chapters on basic equipment and camera techniques and then moves on to the techniques for photographing cars in a variety of locations, such as races, studios and during restoration. It also includes tips on photographing the people and events associated with the cars.

The book is suitable for both beginners and those with general photographic experience looking to try out some professional-quality car photography for the first time.

Highly recommended.

I am a professional car photographer and actually bought this book when I was starting out in this segment to get some background information and insights in the world of car photography, and I am really sad to say this book is 'old' by now, it hardly speaks about digital photogaphy at all, and all the techniques and explanations are based on using film cameras.
Naturally the technique remains the same, hence I rated it a four as it really is a nice book to get ideas from, but these days things have evolved a lot further and I feel it is time to have a reworked, re-print of this one, that focuses better on handling digital files and possibly the post-processing, things that have become extremely important in today's day and age.
I would still recommend it to anybody that is interested in shooting cars, the basics remain the same no matter what camera you are using.

I enjoyed reading this book and it covers a broad area - it's all in the title I suppose! It gave me some interesting ideas and is worth the purchase.

On the negative side, it's now quite dated with respect to digital and is probably best for novice to intermediate level photographers only.
