5.0 out of 5 stars PURE GENIUS, 9 Jan 2005

I started to read the first page of this book while still in the bookshop and was instantly hooked. I could not put it down and was utterly heartbroken when I finished it. I have actually started to read it again, which I never do! It is one of the funniest and most original stories I have ever read. Pure genius. You must read this!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars sooooo good!, 21 Aug 2005
this book was just delicious! its been so long since something this funny and hype-worthy has been written. I read this mostly on my tube journeys into work and would laugh out loud so much, that i would get stopped and asked what i was reading and where it was available from. each and every single one of the characters is unique and lovable, and the story never drags, u want it to continue always. God i wish Doug was real.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!, 1 Nov 2006

I must confess, it took me a little while to get into this book. It starts quite slowly, setting the characters up and giving you a feeling for what's what.

But a couple of chapters in and you're hooked. It's rare for me to find a book that really grabs my attention and keeps me reading for hours, but this did exactly that.

Some parts made me laugh out loud (not good on a train for what it's worth), and I never stopped enjoying reading it. My dad read it after me and he loved it too.

You really can't go wrong, I'm looking forward to reading something else by the same author soon!

4.0 out of 5 stars A 1980s teen movie in book format, but better
This novel deserves the good reviews it's getting. It's got the feel of a John Hughes 80s teen movie in book format, but with a lot more depth and a few more twists to boot... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read - why has he not written more?
