I decided to download this book since it’s very reasonably priced and I’ve been dealing with a minor case of the blues. While short, it gets right to the point. The author talks about the different kinds of depression, and delves into both traditional and alternative methods for treating depression. Basically, it offers a great overview so that the reader can choose methods that might work best for them. I especially liked the alternative/natural approaches detailed by the author as traditional therapy is out of financial reach for me at this time. I’m hopeful that this will help me to turn the corner and get back to a happier me.

In a world where Dr's now a days offer a pill for everything, it was refreshing to read a book that talks about natural treatments. I encourage anyone who currently has depression or believes they might have depression to pick up this book. The tips and nutritional information in this book alone is worth it.

I got this as it was such a good price and I thought it was worth giving it a shot.I wasn't disappointed. I found the info on caffeine really useful and really got the principles of alternative therapy that are provided. I think the author really understands the issues being discussed and writes in well organized and clear way that makes this a great read. Thanks for the advice.

Overall this is an original and,above all, useful guide that is a must read for those needing some more practical advice. Highly recommended.

L.W. Wilson's little book, "How to Overcome Depression Fast," is a fast read, and yet it covers all the basics in a well organized fashion, clearly describing the different levels of depression, from mild to severe, and discussing commonly used traditional methods of treatment. While the author advises us to seek a professional diagnosis, first, he then goes on to give details of alternative and natural treatments that we can pursue ourselves, in lieu of, or in addition to traditional treatment, all of which are extremely good advice, logical, clear and attainable. As one who has bouts of mild depression, from time to time, it is good to know what I can do to get back in control and to be reminded of how best to avoid future depression. Also, it is good to know the symptoms of severe depression, so as to know when to seek outside help.
Regardless, of the title "Fast," the author points out that we should not expect immediate results. Recovery and healing take time.

I appreciated that this book gave an overview of depression. But what I most appreciated was that it gave simple, tangible steps to treating depression. Certainly if someone is suicidal, professional help is a necessity. However, I think a lot of us are just dealing with a lighter form of depression that we can potentially help ourselves through. I really related to the discussion of how diet and exercise can both increase and decrease depression. I am a major consumer of caffeine and never really thought of it in relation to moods. Until reading this book, I didn’t know that caffeine has been linked to increases in depression and mood disorders. I’ve now removed caffeine from my diet and added more exercise to my days as well. I’m already feeling the difference. Thank you.
