Product Description

Product Description

This is fully updated with new material to support practitioners in observing children within the Early Years Foundation Stage. This book retains the popular, practical approach of the first edition, making it ideal for practitioners to dip in and out of for day-to-day guidance and in-depth enough for students learning the theory and skills for the first time. It includes updated information relating to the National Primary Strategy to support effective observations in schools. It also offers examples of observations throughout enable students and practitioners to relate the theory and techniques to their setting.

From the Author

This is an ideal book for all of those studying childcare and early years courses at Levels 3 and 4, such as CACHE and BTEC awards and Foundation Degrees. It contains many examples of observations to support the reader as well as case studies and 'think about it' features to challenge and extend knowledge. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I am doing an NVE3 Childcare Learning and Development and bought this book to help me with my Observation Case Study. The book is very detailed and probably aimed more at professionals who have to produce observation as part of their work. It did help me though but feel perhaps I should have borrowed it rather than bought it.
It is easy to read and covers everything you could need to know and more in my case.

I bought this book for my Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies - ready to undertake observations, which I have only done at NVQ level before. I really recommend this book if you are new to observations, it is easy to follow and makes it easy to link theory to practice. The most useful book for observations in my opinion.
