How Not To Live Your Life follows Don Danbury (aka "The Double D"), a perennial work-shy loser who inherits his late nan's belongings thinking he's got a massive free house, before learning she was in significant financial trouble and - much to his chagrin - he must rent out a room to have any chance of keeping up mortgage repayments. It's not all bad though, as he befriends odd ex-carer Eddie and by chance manages to get his teenage obession Abby to rent the spare room, albeit with her condescending career-driven boyfriend Karl in tow.

Don isn't very subtle or very PC, and spends much of the time speaking his mind, making dumb decisions and generally rubbing people up the wrong way in his efforts to a) earn money, b) avoid the bayliff and c) convince Abby they belong together. The script is generally pretty sharp with subtle jokes you won't notice before re-watching, and it's helped by a quirky running theme showing ways you should not approach situations (i.e., upon meeting Abby for the first time in about 13 years, handcuffing her and saying "Now this time you're not getting away"). Good scripting by creator & star Dan Clark, although it would be nice if others occasionally got some good lines too, rather than acting as buffers for Don.

There's a lot of junk on BBC3, but infrequently something decent comes out of the bag, and this is probably the best new British sitcom since the excellent Plus One.

Simply "Hilarious" watched one episode by accident, and now I am totally hooked, ended up buying all 3 series, now that's a recommendation for you! This guy cracks me up, if you need a good dose of comedy, look no further.

Series 1 is easily the best new comedy series to hit the TV screens this decade, and is very very funny. Episode 3 with the dead granny is a classic. It's completely non-pc which all the difference to the comedy of the programmes, so if your easily offend it may not be for you. It loses one star of the score for two strange reasons 1: the pilot episode is not included on the DVD and 2: why was it not released on Blu-Ray as it was shown on BBC HD and a HD copy does exists. Apart from these minor errors in my opinion - it's a perfect comedy programme.

I was bought this dvd for christmas by my dad, i had never seen it or for that matter heard of it. But i thought i'd give it a try and it became an instant hit for me. Extremely funny, great cast, interesting story lines. The characters are relatable, you are either one of them or know people like them. I watched the whole season in one sitting and then ordered the second series. Laugh after laugh, from the main character and also great supporting by Eddie, the carer.

First, was Dudley Moore with Cook. Then, Monty Python did the job. After that, things got a bit awkward, with exceptions of course, like Rowan Atkinson, "Just Shoot me" and lately, "IT"...Not forget The UK "Office", that changed comedy followed by the genius "Extras"...but then...DAN CLARK appeared, with this marvelous, brilliant, excellent, unique, hilarious, magical, project, which became better from season to season...Thanks Dan...Don.

I first found out about this show when the third series premiered on BBC Three, when I watched it, I forced myself to watch the rest of the series! It is VERY VERY funny! It's packed with jokes and you laugh at least every 10 or 20 seconds. I tried to compare it to other comedies and the only similar style ones are The Inbetweeners and Ideal both of which are very popular. BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!!!

This review also covers Series Three. The episodes just get funnier and funnier. I would recommend buying the box set ( which I do not have ) because there are, I think, Christmas specials included. I am a fan of Dan Clark but I am sure his appeal for this series will be beyond his followers. There is much adult humour.
It is all so funny and well written.
