About the Author

Leighton Denny MBE is a multi award-winning entrepreneur, leading expert and internationally recognised figure within the beauty world. Leighton left Bradford 15 years ago with just a dream and a rucksack and was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday honours for his services to the nail and beauty industry. With over 60 industry awards under his belt, Leighton is one of the best-selling expert presenters on QVC home shopping channel, achieving anything around £5,000 per minute for new launches. Somewhere around the globe, Leighton sells a crystal nail file every 15 seconds and a bottle of nail colour every 30 seconds. Leighton’s products are stocked in over 400 prestigious spas across the UK, over 1000 spas and salons throughout the world, and most recently in his first US salon in Washington DC. Ironically, Leighton is also stocked on the same cruise liner that he was once frog-marched off as a teenager. Alongside his successful Expert Nail range, Leighton masterminded the launch of his premium self-tanning range, Sun Believable Expert Tan. Leighton added Lip Dual Expert Make Up to his expanding beauty portfolio just a year later and has recently launched his first fragrance, Light & Dark. Leighton has homes in London, Los Angeles and Bradford. www.leightondenny.com Twitter: @Leighton_Denny

I work in the beauty industry and have always been a fan of Leighton and his work! I thought I knew a lot about him - I didn't! This book isn't written with frills and flounces, it is a tale of an ordinary kid from Bradford who ends up leading a lifestyle of the rich and famous. What is interesting, though, is how he got there. Leighton doesn't skirt around the truth but tells his life exactly as it has happened. it is funny, blunt, honest and what I would call a real romp of a story. From being a forklift truck driver, to learning his craft on cruise ships, Leighton does not paint a picture of an easy ride to the top, so for anyone starting off in their career this would be a fabulous read. Leighton's tenacity pays off and you have to admire him from it. He is still just a boy from Bradford, though, and anyone who can fit a guy called Granville in his story, alongside Joan Collins, Jade Jagger and jam roly poly has me turning every page with interest.

This is a truly fantastic book EVERYONE should read whether you are a die hard Leighton Denny fan of his products and just want to find out more about the man behind the products or want to read a book that's going to encourage you to go for your dreams and make them come true and that life has lessons that make just you stronger and more focused. I have had the pleasure of meeting Leighton on a number of occasions and found him to be an absolute gentleman, so down to earth and someone who naturally makes you smile. With his products, he naturally wants you to have the best nails and encourages you to explore the joys of colour and experiment and that no matter who you are, you deserve the best. You will well at the sad bits of the book and shout and stomp yeah yeah at the joys and triumphs. A real inspirational book.

Loved this book, I read it quickly and it really leaves you wanting more and feels too short but I'm delighted it is to be continued, judging by the closing comments, so am expecting another autobiography at some point! Brilliantly written with humour, didn't drag or bore at all, a real page turner.

I first saw Leighton on QVC, have got his crystal nail files and other products, love that he's a perfectionist and this shows in his products and packaging. It was very interesting learning more about his life's journey and I admire his work ethic and persistence even more now! I'm now off to fulfil my ambitions! ;-)

I think this a must read for any LD fan. It does concentrate on the earlier years so to speak so you find out how he got where he is. Yes, there are celeb name drops in the book but they all hold relevance with his story so they aren't irritating name drops like some bios I've read!

I found this read really quite inspirational if I'm honest - it shows you that rewards don't come without a lot of hard work and in this world of being famous for famous sake it's quite nice!

A good read for all Leighton fans and those who have no idea who he is.
As a Bradfordian I got the feeling he didn't really like his home city all that much, we don't have a " small town mentality" as he quite often says, even in the 80's the city accepted and embraced the gay scene!
On the whole if was written just as Leighton talks, funny, down to earth and honest.
I hope he never changes because he is a Bradford lad done good !!
