Product Description

Product Description

Rod Cambridge created an iPhone app called Top-Tens to see how easy it was to make some money as an app developer. In this eBook, Rod uses this experience to take the reader step by step through the things that should, and shouldn't, be done when creating an app for Apple's iPhone or its rivals including Google's Android and Microsoft's Windows Mobile devices.

With this eBook, you'll learn:

* What things should you incorporate, and avoid, when designing your app's User Interface.

* The importance of your product roadmap - and what should be in it.

* How to employ innovative, and guerilla, marketing tactics to get sales moving.

* How to develop a two-minute elevator pitch. You did realize you need an an elevator pitch, didn't you?

It's all here, and much, much more. Read "How NOT To Write an App" to give your app an edge in a very crowded marketplace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, long overdue! 25 May 2011
By Dutch
Format:Kindle Edition
Hi
I just added the above to my growing collection of programming books and I'm really chuffed to bits with it.
The book has been written in a clear and upbeat fashion that I found very easy to follow. While it does not contain code examples as I expected (maybe because it covers different platforms?!) it makes up for that with loads of other things that I didn't think I needed to do but are vital to success -- like the marketing/research side of things.

All in all a very good eBook at a great price. If you are a developer starting out making apps, this is the best help ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done Mr. Cambridge 23 Aug 2012
By Anne88
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book based on 2 things: The title and the price. The price because I thought if it's a silly book, I won't have paid too much. The title because it was different and I like what's different. There are so many books who promise to reveal you the secrets of becoming a Millionaire with creating a new app and laying down waiting for money to come. To me, that's a lot of nonsense.

So I bought and started to read. I only read 3/4 so far, but I had this urge to write a review. This book is just fantastic. It's funny, it's honest, it's realistic and it's full of very good tips. It's like a friend talking to you. The author doesn't tell you will become a millionaire, he doesn't tell you it will be so easy ... quite the opposite, but if you are willing to work hard, you will get results. He shares his fabulous journey with you. He describes all what he did wrong, all what he did right and the lessons he learnt.

You go with him onto an adventure and it is a fantastic one. So well done Mr. Cambridge, I am really impressed. If there were 6 stars, you would get them from me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Out of date 22 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is useful only if you are a complete beginner and you do not know who Steve Jobs is (was).
Unfortunately with this kind of techy oriented texts getting out of date is a very quick process.
It's still well written, but not suitable to someone who's already a bit more clued up. Try sampling it first to see if you're a good audience for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't build an app without reading this book. 14 Dec 2011
By Dungeondan - Published on Amazon.com

I'm a newbie in app developement and marketing for that matter. This book took me through the planning, designing, and marketing of an app and as the title implies showed me how not to make an app. I'm working on my first app now and this book got me moving in the right direction. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars How not to write an App 25 May 2011
By PATTI - Published on Amazon.com

This ebook has some great insights from someone who seems to have done it - especially the lesson on UI design where I have little experience. Would be nice to have some case studies but other than that, it's fab. Thank you!!

How not to write a "How not to write an app" book.

Maybe reverse psychology doesn't work on me, but I found little useful information here.
