FANTASTIC 24 Mar 2004
Format:Paperback
What more can I say - A fantastic book with plenty of ideas and sources for research into the MRI. Mainly aimed at aspiring recording engineers, but a brilliant "pointer" (in the right direction) for anyone wishing to get into the music industry.
Maybe a little american for some people (making a "career book") but all the same, a book that is well worth taking the time to read in depth, learning all that you can from the author.

How To Get a Job in the Music and Recording Industry gives you a insightful and sincere scenario of the music industry. Its surprising honesty leads to build a solid music career. It is not of those books that promise happiness and success forever for musicians. Your creativity will not be compromised when you follow its advice. The book helps you combine the artist and the business man. Don't expect for miracles though. It's hard work and objectivity the book's main answer.

For every job seeker 16 Jun 2002

Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought that book because i would like to deal with music business and i wanted to have a brief overview about this type of business. I read that book and i have to say that this book is for people who want to work in business as sound engineers and songwriters but not for someone who want to work in financial, promotion, managment, marketing seagments. The 99% of examples are for people who seek for job as songwriters or sound engineering.
Moreover the book is perfect for everyone who dose'nt have any preview idea of business and how the companies hire staff. I think that is a good book for everyone who want to know how to start in any kind of business generaly.
So if you don't care about sound engineer or song writing maybe is better to look for something else, but if you plan to work in that area go on everything in this book is written for you.

Are you a record producer? A musician? A promoter? Or maybe you're just looking for a job related to music. This book is a must for those trying to land a job in the world of the fame and fortune, it has useful information with details ranging from the way you walk, act and talk at an interview up to detailed explanations of contracts and legal documents that you need to sign. Keith Hatschek's title has an airy structure and is a light read for people on the run to the next job interview. Recommended for the jobless producer, song writer, musician...and so on.
