Amazon.co.uk Review

Kate Hudson twinkles as the heroine of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. She's a magazine writer assigned to date a guy, make all the mistakes girls make that drive guys away (being clingy, talking in baby-talk and so on) and records the process like a sociological experiment. However, the guy she picks-- Matthew McConaughey--is an advertising executive who's just bet that he can make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days; if he succeeds, he'll win a huge account that will make his career. The set-up is completely absurd, but the collision of their efforts to woo and repel creates some pretty funny scenes. McConaughey's easy charm and Hudson's lightweight impishness play well together and the plot, though strictly Hollywood formula, chugs along efficiently. At moments Hudson seems to channel her mother, Goldie Hawn, to slightly unnerving effect. --Bret Fetzer

I borrowed this off a friend after hearing it was quite good and very funny.

I was shocked by just how good this film is! It is a sweet rom com that is unpredictable and has some very good performances in it. Kate Hudson is a very sexy and talented actress and in this film she lights up the screen with all her grace and charm. She is easily the funniest character in the film.

I highly recommend this film and must state for the record, it's NOT just a chick flick!

The only reason I gave it four stars is because the title is a little off putting. However, if it had been 'How to get a girl in 10 days' I would have graced it with five stars.

I watched this film last year and have watched it many, many times since! It still never fails to make me laugh out loud everytime! it truly is a romantic comedy masterpiece!!! The main actors, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have amazing on-screen chemistry making the whole story just flow so much better.

The film's basically about a magazine columnest, Andie Anderson (Hudson) who agrees to write a first hand account on what it takes to drive a man out of your life in exactly 10 days. At the same time eligible ad agency bachelor, Benjamin Barry (McConaughey), excepts a high stakes bet that he can lure any woman into falling head over heels in love with him - also in 10 days! As both meet the cunning Andie uses everything in her power to try and drive Ben away, by using every trick in the book that guys hate, such as baby language, being clingy and frequent mood changes.

This film is absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Hudson and McConaughey both play their parts very well, with depth and comedy. The supporting cast also portray their character's brilliantly! The film is funny, full of heart and with an entertaining and truly different storyline - making 'How to lose a guy in 10 days' truly one of greatest romantic comedy's of it's day!

I would recommend it to anyone - even the lads! One not to be missed!

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, possibly one of my favourite movies - it will make you laugh out loud and make you feel good for a long time after watching it. Although possibly a far fetched story line, it has good morals, is believeable and the characters make you fall in love with them from the beginning. Enough said - go and watch it!
Sliding Doors - It has been a while since I last saw this movie, purely because I find Gwenyth Paltrow so wet and annoying. The story line is good and puts raises a lot of questions - what if?? Definitely watch this one especially if you don't find Gwenyth Paltrow as irritating as I do.
Ghost - an absolute classic if, a bit dated. Brilliantly cast, Whoopi Goldberg steals the show in this movie that will have you laughing out loud, make you cry and at the end you will feel a better person for having watched it.

Most people liked this - but personally i thought it was rubbish. None of the jokes made me laugh, it mostly just made me cringe a lot.

Saw 'How To Lose Etc' only recently. Kate Hudson as Andie Anderson, featuring in this 2003-production, must have been role model for Rita Simons as Roxy Mitchell in EE. Read more
