5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any beginner 11 Nov 2007
Format:Paperback
As a child my Mum was always trying to teach me to knit, but I had no interest, considering it was for old fogies. Well, now that I am an old fogie myself (39) with little children, I thought it was probably time to learn to knit. Sadly my Mum was no longer around, so I had to search for a good book to teach me the basics. This book is wonderful. Not only are there some really fun little projects, but the instructions are very clear and precise - I had no idea that casting on was quite so easy! I've since moved onto more advanced projects, but I keep this book nearby for reference. This book is perfect for everyone who wants to learn to knit in a fun, clear and precise way. Brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book! 10 May 2009
Format:Paperback
I bought this book after seeing my neice's copy - it's a lovely little book for young knitters - I wanted it as it has some really simple patterns for nice items you might want to make as quick to knit gifts - and also for the knitted flowers - which you can add onto any item you have knitted - so even though I am not new to knitting - I still like this book very much.
Recommended!
It is modern and includes many projects - the photography is nice and the directions are clear.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY, she gets it. 17 Nov 2010
Format:Spiral-bound
My poor Mother, my poor Grandmother, they tried time and time again to teach me to knit. But I'm a terrible student. They failed. The best I'd been able to do was make a very holey scarf.

But, just a month after buying this book, I've been able to knit flowers, phone socks, purses, and more!

I've even bought a book on Toys to knit, and have made quiet a nice pony.

It's a great starting point. Nice and clear, and confidence building.

I would recommend it for the young, or awkward like me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous for any beginner at any age! 3 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
This book helped me learn how to knit properly, I could only do 'knit' stitch and that was it. This book taught me how to do the whole thing from start to finish, cast on, knit/purl/cast off/knit flowers and leaves, bags etc. Which means Ive now been able to help my 6yr old daughter learn new things too. This book was recommended by an after-school club crafts teacher and I can't recommend it highly enough for learning all the steps you and your child will want to learn. Easy to understand with good descriptions and diagrams.Super!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book 31 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
This is a beautifully presented and wonderfully inspiring book. I love knitting and always have knitted, but I had trouble introducing my (11yr old daughter) to knitting. Found this book and gave it to her, she loves it and has made several 'projects'. All her friends browse through and plan things to make. As it is so beautiful and fun to look at, it appeals to children and adults alike. The patterns are very clear and easy to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! 7 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback
This is a brilliant, easy to follow book.
It's full of lovely, funky patterns and anything that a new knitter might find difficult is very simply and effectively explained by fantastic illustrations.

It's a gorgeous, simple - but not patronising - reference to have. :)
