"How Kind" is a beautifully illustrated wonderfully uncomplicated tale reminding us that every good deed deserves another. Hen gives Pig an egg to look after....sparking off a chain of good deeds which comes full circle with the birth of the chick and its return to Hen. Toddlers will love the pretty colours, the simple shapes and recognisable farmyard animals (simply named as Hen, Pig, Puppy etc). Parents will love the simple moral message (and hope that it hits home with their offspring)!

I saw this book at a friend's house and absolutely loved it so went straight out and bought it for my own son.
It is simply and colourful, easy to read, with a bit of humour and a bit of a moral message without being too patronising.

I am always shy to write a negative review, but it was a little odd that a chicken gave away one of her "soon to be baby" eggs to the pig. Though it started a chain reaction with the pig feeling good and doing something nice for others...etc, etc...it ended with the pig returning the baby chick (that hatched from the egg) back to the chicken. The ending is a little strange. What is learned by a mom giving away one of her babies, only to have it returned to her?

This is a great book for children of all ages. The message is simple and straight forward - doing something nice for someone may lead to someone doing something nice for you. My 1 1/2 year old loves the bright and simple artwork that features every 1 1/2 year old's favorite barnyard animals: cow, hen, puppy, cat, pig, etc. It's a short book, fantastic for bed-time, and is sturdily constructed.

Really lovely message of caring and "passing on" kindness

A sort of pay-it-forward for little kids, I love reading this to my kids. While I can respect what the one reviewer said about a hen giving away her egg being strange, I think it's overthinking it a little for the ages this book is meant for. It's really cute too how not all the things the animals give one another are THINGS.. you can DO kind things too (scratch a back, play a game a friend especially likes). That may be my favorite thing about it.. giving isn't just about things. I think this book makes a perfect gift for a baby and young child of any age. The amount of words on each page is not too much, so the pages turn quickly enough to a little one, have different animals which even one year olds start to pick up, has a nice cadence for little babies and of course the message is lovely. HIGHLY recommended for self or a gift.
