If you weren't prepared,or stuck in the past yourself, you would have missed it. In Mitch's honesty and naïve approach, he undressed himself for all the hero worshippers to see and judge his nakedness. However, in this moment of artistic transgression he revealed the most wonderful artist within, Still the great and powerful voice, but with something to say himself, which fortunately was his objective in the first place...The first song "Tough kid" began with the expected Detroit Power and energy, but the twist were the story telling lyrics phrased by one of the better vocalist in rock history....followed by a great musical arrangement "Dance ourselves to death" laughing at himself and our self-serving indulgent culture as we dance ourselves to death. then it slows down to a guitar led ditty, called, Passion wheel. almost apologizing for the indulgence, while revealing that voice of greatness soaked in whisky, as it follows the notes of the lone guitar ...this tune begins the complete transition of Mitch Ryder the Pop Rock star, to the artist he was to become some 35 years later today, Followed by Cherry Poppin, Freezin in hell , Nice and Easy...with all unique and new arrangements, some bluesy with a dash of Detroit flavor or just the blues, with dark and insightful lyrics twisting in and out the chords with that most incredible voice hitting ranges many vocalist can only dream of...Freezin in hell is the song that seals the greatness of the CD...Still the most powerful Rock performance this person has ever heard. Mitch's most incredible voice has been documented with his high voltage ear piercing screams which he saved for this memorable tune and placed it most accurately in the slow building bluesy song where frustration meets a wall of discontent, leaving you feeling the despair of the singer; These gems are followed on the back end of the CD with many Tunes that challenge you with their dark and honest lyrical content, but brings you non the less along with their melodies with minimal chorus(Story telling at it's best)...One song in particular,Falling Forming (With that minimal Chorus) "Falling Forming, once again", leaves the listener with a ray of hope for the character revealed on this CD giving him a chance of survival and redemption. Survive he did....Today Mitch Ryder is regarded as a great song writer and arranger throughout the music industry and presently he is writing books and creating stage plays writing all verses and songs as well as the script and getting rave reviews...This CD is the beginning of that process...Enjoy, but be aware...This isn't your grand dad's Mitch Ryder..It's who Mitch Ryder wanted to be...and the world of art is better for it, and so will you.
