This is a step-by-step book and very thorough reading.,

This review is from: How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days (Paperback)
I have read other books regarding housebreaking and this is by far the best I've read. What I love most is that she describes different scenerios for the stay-at-home and working dog owners. I started seeing results after the third day! Truly an exellent book for anyone who has a puppy or an older dog having accidents in the home.

Taking the Heartbreak out of Housebreaking!,

This review is from: How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days (Paperback)
This book offers concise, yet thorough instruction and information on the best method to housebreak your pooch. Kalstone even includes information on paper-training, though she makes it clear that this is not the best method, and should not be considered as an intermediate step if one expects a dog to use the bathroom exclusively outside at any point in its life. The thing I like most about the little book, aside from the completely reasonable price (truly one of the best deals for your dollar in the world of dog-training books), is that she includes several sample feeding/exercise/elimination schedules that a person can tailor to one's own schedule. She also strongly advises and gives solid training information about crate-training, which when done properly, is one of the most humane and best gifts a human could possibly bestow upon a canine companion. If you're having a problem with "accidents" in the house, *this* is the book you've been looking for! And what a bargain! :)

It doesn't always do exactly what it says on the tin!,

This review is from: How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days (Revised) (Paperback)
I would say this is not the best book I have read, however, if you are new to the whole house training thing, then I would recommend it as a good starting point. For someone who is already experienced it only serves to confirm what you have been doing right but does however offer some insightful tips and advice. However, the title is somewhat misleading as the book does go on to explain that no two dogs are the same, hence there is no guarantee that your dog will be fully housetrained within the 7 day period which is, in effect, an estimation/generalisation! That said, if you do follow the guidelines and stick to a strict regime your fury friend will inevitably catch on in no time at all. It just takes patience and persistence. Don't put pressure on yourself though and go at your and your dog's own pace. Remember, dogs are born followers and as their pack leader it is your responsiblity to lay down the ground rules and to be consistent in their training. That way, there is little room for failure. I have two puppies and would say it took about a month before they were fully housetrained. That said, even now at six months old I still stick to their routine like clockwork and always keep a close eye on them. This book will lay down the foundation for good house breaking.
