HTHYRC is perfect for graduates, first jobbers, new jobbers, career changers, in fact all 'jobbers'. In short everyone who's reluctantly realised that Recruitment Consultants are a fact of job hunting life. (NOTE: Never ever call them a Necessary Evil (that gets explained inside)) So if you've reached the end of your tether with slippery, sloppy consultants, or you're just exasperated with the sweet but useless ones you can at last discover How to Handle Your Recruitment Consultant with phenomenal results.

About the Author

Herbie Henderson lives in London with her delectable husband and her genius dog Harry. With a head packed full of insider knowledge (thanks to her experience as a recruitment consultant) Herbie set about creating this How to Handle. She knew just how slippery and sloppy some of her competitors could be, and how notoriously difficult they were to handle. She also knew that a lot of candidates out there had reached breaking or boiling point with their consultants. So she got to work interrogating competitors, colleagues, candidates and frankly anyone & everyone relevant; toiling tirelessly to unearth the best kept secrets (and some of the lousy consultants regrettably unsavoury practices) so you now you can discover... How to Handle Your Recruitment Consultant... with phenomenal results. (Note: Despite having explored the underbelly of recruitment Herbie would like to state for the record that all the agencies she has ever worked with have impeccable working practices, professional & perfect consultants, brilliant & brainy candidates and delicious & adorable clients!)

It's tough getting a job these days so understanding how the world of recruitment works from an insider point of view helps. This was a fun but very informative read.

Bought this book at the same time as buying The Definitive Job Book: Rules from the Recruitment Insiders - I thought both may be pretty similar, but as you can probably tell I was keen to know quite how on earth to get somewhere with the recruitment consultants (many of whom I hadn't been very impressed by). I can truthfully say that I am very glad I bought BOTH books. Truth is - you can get all the CV and interview books in the world but they don't actually cover this key area of everybody's job search: the actual business of dealing with and handling recruitment consultants.

I think it is as a direct result of buying reading and learning from both of these books that I built great relationships with my consultants and have even in these credit crunch times recieved several job offers for jobs I want! I have actually been able to pick and choose and I genuinely believe this is thanks to both of these books, and that's why I am putting reviews on the pages for both of them - I nearly didn't buy both but I am glad I did! They are very different in style and yet each brings something very useful and insightful to the table.

Well done to both the author of The Definitive Job Book: Rules from the Recruitment Insiders
and to the author of
How to Handle Your Recruitment Consultant: Brilliant insider tips, tricks & secrets to maximise the performance of your recruitment consultant and secure ... Out Salary You Know You Want and Deserve for spotting this gap in the market and plugging it so masterfully!

In both cases I thought some of the things they were saying seemed obvious, but then I realised that obvious as they may be - the points they were making were right - I wasn't actually doing the things I should have been. Both provided me with a sort of kick in the bottom to get myself into gear.

5 Stars - they are vital books to have on your job search/career book shelf!

This is a no-nonsense guide that lifts the lid on the seemingly murky world of Recruitment Consultants. I really valued this book. Since reading it my career transition has become a lot more fun. Gone are the creepy nervous feelings of dread when having to call recruitment consultants and afterI read this book I have since struck up really positive relationships with recruitment consultants. It is well written in an informal 'chatty' style. Good value.
