You have a life outside of your job, this book will help you live it! 21 July 2007

If you think going home on time is an unachievable goal then this book will assist you in stepping back and viewing your job from a different angle. It teaches you some good ways of negotiating your workload with your boss (e.g. saying no!). The suggestion of creating a "dance card" of your tasks and time will help you focus on what is important within your role. It may also aid you in gaining extra staff resources if necessary. Remember, you have a life outside of your job. This book will help you live it.

Despite being what I considered to be self aware, I had not realised until reading this book that I was a Magician.

According to this book, if you are the one that is always pulling rabbits out of the hat at work - ie when the chips are down you are the one that sorts it out - this book is a must.

I could not understand why I was so stressed and overworked and yet no one appeared to help me - I know now and will be back without the wand!

Knowing what the pattern of your behaviours are gives a real sense of liberation and also relief - knowing that you are not on your own and there are solutions

An excellent little book with a logical approach to getting a work - life balance. If you don't have time to read a self help book then read this one - then go back and do the exercises. It is a simple approach but not easy - because it tells you how you have to change your perceptions of the world of work and be honest in what you really value in life.

Does it work? I'll let you know when I have started on the exercises - but I'm sure that it will!
