Product Description

Looking for a graduate job? This is the only book you need - whether you've just graduated or have been job-hunting for a while. In How to Get a Graduate Job in a Recession you'll discover the secrets to spending less time on your job search - and seeing more results. Graduate careers guru Tanya de Grunwald (founder of careers website GraduateFog.co.uk) shows you how to stop wasting time using strategies that aren't working - and start discovering the new ones that will work. Find out: How to find the vacancies that nobody else knows about / Tips and tricks for breaking into the most competitive industries / How to turn an unpaid internship into a paid job / How to choose your career (and how to assess whether your choice is a good one) / How to write CVs and applications that get noticed for the right reasons / How to ace interviews - while still being yourself / How to organise your job hunt / Whether you should consider moving abroad / Whether postgraduate study would boost your career - or be an expensive mistake / How to stay motivated as your job hunt progresses... Packed with tips, wisdom and insight, this book explains why old-style careers advice suddenly seems so out of date. In a fast-changing world, today's graduates need a new approach to planning their future. This is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb book! 12 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback
I already own Tanya's previous book Dude, Where's My Career?: The Guide for Baffled Graduates and decided to buy this more updated version.

This one (like the last) is written in a funny, helpful and understanding way. It throws all of that awful, dull career advice from schools and universities out of the window and starts anew on a level you can empathise with.

The book is well written with separate sections on elements such as interviews, applications, job search and even incorporating social media into our job searches.

It remains light hearted at times and has picked me up when i've felt down. You feel as if Tanya genuinely cares (and knows what she is talking about).

I would also like to add that alot of the advice contained within this book could be for anyone looking for a job (not just Grads) -esp interview and application advice.

This would also make a great gift to someone you know who is struggling to find a graduate job, finding a job is a difficult and lonely process but this book has really helped me (and given me some laughs along the way!)

...I have read sections of this book before several interviews and the advice has definitely helped and just this week i was offered my first 'proper' job! :)
