I don't care if it's middle class (see review below)! I've really enjoyed this book and have made a bunch of the drinks already. The 'Baby Joe' is a genuine classic - I've made it for three groups of friends already and it's been a real show stopper. The tips on how to make the perfect coffee or G&T are simple but have made a massive difference - I know that sounds ridiculous but it's true. I thoroughly recommend this one - will be my book gift for the year I think!

This book is a must have for every kitchen, and especially for those who love to socialise. The `Cucumber martini' was the perfect antidote to a scorching summers day, and tips for improvements on the old classics, like the G&T, made all the difference. I found the style informative without being pretentious, with basic general information about spirits, and necessary nuggets such as how to choose the right wine or recognise whether it has past its peak. Unusual information, such as how to make ice cubes in a hurry, was useful, and it answers some of life's most confusing questions such as what is the difference between the various types of tea are. I loved the easy to use summary at the end, and the scattered recipes for accompaniments throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as the author has a very engaging writing style and there are genuinely funny passages in it. It is much more than a list of recipes.

Having said that, the recipes I have tried so far have been a success, and like another reviewer my coffee habits have been drastically improved!
