Girls, girls everywhere, 18 May 2003
This review is from: How To Draw Manga Volume 22: Bishouju Around The World: Bishouju Around the World v. 22 (How to Draw Manga (Graphic-Sha Unnumbered)) (Paperback)
Hikaru Hayashi definetely had alot of fun drawing the examples in this Manga book. The book doesn't cover the basics, however, it does have alot of good costumes and positions that are useful if you already know the basic body and head. It's all about girls with no bishounen(obviously), so don't buy it if you want to draw men. It shows quite alot of naked girls so you can draw them properly, although its a little hentai.
If anyone wants it, buy some paper and pencils and have a go, its worth the money when you produce a beautiful drawing.
It also shows how to draw bishoujo from all parts of the world and extras, such as prehistoric and punk bishoujo.
Overall its an excellent book, yet you really need to know the basics first.

Although the book had indepth looks into the basic types and variations of female characters I found that there was not enough on how to create characters with a multi-racial background. (only one page)
Also I found that it didn't account for variation in particular cultures. A good book if you need to clearly define race in your manga - otherwise compleatly useless. ^_^'

Good and precise!, 2 April 2002
This review is from: How To Draw Manga Volume 22: Bishouju Around The World: Bishouju Around the World v. 22 (How to Draw Manga (Graphic-Sha Unnumbered)) (Paperback)
It's a very good book it basically tells you all you need to know about materials but the only problem I find is that it doesn't cover in enough detail how to actually draw manga characters. For example it doesn't go into how to draw hair which is one of the most complicated things to draw. This book concentrates on using the right equipment...
