Pornographic? Well...., 16 April 2002
Okay, I was a little bit surprised when I opened this book to find a page on drawing breasts... followed by one describing how to draw girls showering... followed by the naked girl with tanlines... to be fair though, it's obvious that none of the poses are intended to be explicitly erotic... maybe the writer just didn't want to handle the bother of teaching the readers how to draw clothes in this particular book, (though I hear there *is* a book out in this series on how to do that) Anyway, manga's supposed to be sexy...On the whole, the girls are cute, there's some nice techniques on drawing eyes, and faces, from different angles, not much in the way of how to draw hair, but every picture has a different hair style so that's not too bad, I'm awful at drawing hands myself so would have liked some pointers there, (I usually resort to sitting a mirror beside me so I can pose with my own hands.) It's getting 4 star as it's a great buy, but would be made better by showing a few more advanced pictures with better shading (at a couple of points, the drawings become quite sketchy) and it'd have been good to see a few more pictures of the girls in an environment, (they're mostly drawn against a plain background) Still, it's a series, so chances are what isn't here, will be covered elsewhere. Me n my brother were pretty impressed by this one, so immediately bought another, a good basic to intermediate level book.
