This book is fantastic, it helps not only with techniques for practising it also helps you to think of your work in an organised way, fully developing character ideas to their final design, Any one who has been sketching from cartoon network, or fox kids will know what I mean when I say it makes the drawing your favorite characters, mines vegeta, much much much, wow 3 much's, easier, I hope you enjoy!!!

A good book, but not necessarily a how-to manual., 12 Aug 2002
This review is from: How To Draw Anime & Game Characters Volume 1: v. 1 (How to Draw Manga) (Paperback)
I bought this book after I had already been drawing figures for a while with some success (2-3 months). I think you'll find that the book does not go into great detail about how to start from scratch. I found that only one or two pages are given over to a particular basic technique followed by many pages of completed examples. To me this wasn't a problem. Tadashi Ozawa's comments on what is wrong with peoples work followed by his own examples of doing it right are fantastic. This is exactly what I needed, and a book dedicated to skeletons and boxes would not have helped me fine tune my work at all. But I think that's an important point - the book is best used for fine tuning. If you are completely new to drawing I think most of the book may be beyond you at first and could just serve to annoy and dishearten!

I am totally impressed with this book. I recieved it this morning in the post and have been looking through since. I have been drawing anime and manga as a hobby now for years and feel that this book will really help me improve. There is a great varity of characters and styles within the pages and many useful tips. There are a total of 152 pages and five chapters to it. I can thourally recomend this book and know that I will get many hours and many orignal style comic books created as a result of it. A deffinate good buy.
