This pack is excellent for the absolute beginner to crochet. The pictures and descriptions are fairly easy to follow, once you get the hang of them, and there are pictures and descriptions for left-handers as well. The crochet hook which comes with the pack is the standard 4mm which can be used for most projects (however, a couple of the projects in the book recommend a smaller size hook, so bear this in mind). You also get two wool needles which are very useful. On the down side, the wool which is included in the pack is cotton-based which makes it very difficult to handle, as the strands tend to come apart and snag on each other. It is, however, less liable to slide off the hook than acrylic wool. This introduction is probably all you need to get started on making small projects and toys, amigurumi etc. but you will probably also need a more in depth guide to tackle large items of clothing or complicated patterns.

This product arrived way before the estimated due date in excellent condition. The yarn is a good quality starter's yarn and the book exactly what I had imagined after amazon's "look inside" feature. Thank you for a great product.

Really good starter pack. The yarn is lovely and soft and the book is quite good at explaining the basic stitches. After a little bit of extra help from Youtube I am well on my way to crocheting a lovely blanket made out of squares (I had never picked up a crochet hook before I ordered this kit!).
