Accessible, portable, savvy,

Ideal for a short trip, this book cuts to the chase, written in a friendly style, without too much background or depth, but knowledgeable enough to answer all your immediate questions credibly.
On the downside, the map is so complete that the street names are lost in a tangle of small print, and for a foreign visitor, that makes it a struggle. This is a pity when large parts of the area covered have very little happening in them. A larger-scale plan of the old town on its own would have been more useful. But in the spirit of the book, it's probably best not to spend too much time fretting over the paperwork, when you never know what you might learn just by asking some of the locals; they really are friendly and helpful.
