I bought this after a recommendation in City AM, but was very disappointed. Unless you know nothing at all about shares then I doubt that you'll get much from it, lots of the advice is amzingly basic stuff like 'don't think about investing in companies in terms of how many shares you want to buy but instead think about how much you want to invest. If a company's shares are cheap then you will get a lot of shares for £1,000 while if a company's shares are expensive then you won't get many shares for £1,000'. I also spotted a couple of typos, for example £400 instead of £400 million. Very disappointing!

This book was well worth reading. It added structure and clarity to what i wanted to do, and helped me decide what i wanted to do. This book clearly illustrated many simple objectives that can be achieved with shares, growth or income, how to create a balanced portfolio and what to look for in different economic cycles.

It is simply laid out and easy to understand, seemingly complex structures are broken down into simple, understandable guidance. It's one of those reads that's imparts advice that's obvious, after you've read it. Leaving the reader thinking, i should have known that, or at least worked it out. But you didn't and you wouldn't without books like this.
