Review

Here's something to delight the ears of anyone who treasures the classic Blue Note albums of the 60s, although it was recorded only last summer. Houston Person's tenor saxophone has all the hallmarks poise, simple elegance and that mixture of gravitas and slight swagger that comes from having nothing left to prove. With a gold-plated rhythm section (John Di Martino, Ray Drummond, Lewis Nash), plus Warren Vaché on cornet, Mark Patterson on trombone and guitarist Howard Alden, it's a dream session. Person is now 77 and his playing just goes on getting better. This may be his best yet. --The Observer, Sunday 22 January 2012

This is lovely mellow mainstream jazz, with the accent on tunefulness and swing. As well as Houston Person on tenor sax, it features Warren Vache whom we used to hear in Ireland from time to time in the days of the Dublin Jazz Society. I bought the CD as a present for a friend, and I listened to it in her place. We both love it.

Another awesome release from a master 27 Dec 2011
By Steven J. Branham - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
Houston Person has flown under the radar in the world of jazz. Probably because he has never been a major headliner or compared to any of the tenor sax giants like Coltrane or Brecker. But what he does have is a full, rich sound and a legacy of releases that are all consistent and pure. And this one fits right in line. What I really like about it is a little more diverse that Houston's last few offerings. It ranges from a simple sax and piano duet and also has him playing in a septet setting with a trombone and cornet. And as always, everything he plays touches you with that signature sound and tone. Houston may not be the greatest or most well-know tenor player of all time, but his music library is as complete and deep as anyone in jazz.
