By R. P. Sedgwick VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
A house populated by several antagonistic tribes of mice is the unlikely setting for this book by Garry Kilworth, told from the perspective of the rodents! Kilworth does a great job of getting the reader to identify with the animals rather than the people in the story, even though they are a species we're accustomed to disliking. Indeed, by the time I was a quarter of the way through the book I was thoroughly on the side of the mice!

The book tells the story of Pedlar, a mouse from the countryside who is compelled to leave his home and enter a nearby house. His arrival triggers a chain of events which completely alter the whole nature of the home which the mice have made for themselves.

This is the third of Kilworth's animal fantasies that I have read. All of them are good, but of those I have read I think I just preferred Frost Dancers to this book (but if I had read them the other way round I might be saying the opposite).

This is a very funny well written story that should delight anyone from the age of 8 to 80. I loved it!

This was actually the first book by Garry Kilworth that I read, but it persuaded me to read more of this genre and by the author himself.

Joining Pedlar the country mouse as he steps into the complicated world of the house is a terrific read - the characters and their personalities blended with typical Kilworth subtle humour made it hard for me to put the book down.

This book is definitely for anyone after a light but involving story - I recommend!
