DVD Description

Roger Cobb (William Katt) is a horror novelist who is suffering writer’s block whilst trying to write his Vietnam veteran memoirs. His Aunt has recently died and he decides to go and write at her house to get away from it all. Unfortunately this is also the house where Roger’s son went missing. It turns out the house is haunted and through a series of flashbacks and visual clues we find out why. Matters are confused by a nosey neighbour, Harold, played by George Wendt (of Cheers fame) and by another, more beautiful neighbour, (Mary Stavin).

Sean S Cunningham's (Friday the 13th) finest horror creation, this movie has aged well also it delivers OTT scares with a tongue in cheek charm, some parts will have you laughing. The sequels are also good, however the third movie isnt funny one bit, its all out brutal serious and has nothing whatsoever to do with House, its not even the same house! Buy this movie and if possible track down the boxset featuring all 4 movies.

80's comedy horror 19 Sep 2007
Format:DVD
This is a typical 80's comedy horror, which I still find VERY funny twenty years on. Our hero, played by Katz (you may remember him from Perry Mason?) progresses from annoyed, to wary, to scared and ultimately annoyed victim of a spook in his new house, and all tongues are firmly in cheeks. There were more of these made, and like Evil Dead, they just got (intentionally) funnier and funnier). The fact that there were TWO sequels - and not DOZENS - showed that they knew when to stop. If you don't feel compelled to purchase this, keep an eye out for it on telly and watch / set your timer for it.

This film may fall into the horror category, but it is far from scary. The special effects are not very special, and the set is not big budget, indeed the flashbacks to 'Nam may well have been filmed in my garden!
However, this is still an OK film!
The film is funny, especially the neighbour, played by George Wendt. There are some classic lines, and the less than special effects are also good for a laugh.
Worth a fiver and a couple of hours I'd say.
