I can't praise this series enough. I have suggested watching to many friends who have in turn become hooked on House.
All the others pale into insignificance comparatively speaking. Going back to E.R, or Casualty....they all look a bit twee. Nothing comes close.
I've watched this box set several times now. Although I guess what it does do is make you realise what a complete load of trash there is on TV right now. House is well acted (Hugh Laurie was born to play House) by all the stars, and well shot in the "walk with" method. It stuns and shock, makes you laugh and cry, and you want to love to hate House.....or the other way round. He's an arrogant, self-indulgent, misanthropic, drug-addicted medical genius, and all the girls want him.
No one wants this series to end. Not least me. But when it does, you will feel good, I promise.

Horrible endless anti-piracy clips after each episode. No way to skip them or fast-forward. Can't even get the DVD out while clip is playing.

House Boxset seasons 1-8 is nothing more than repackaged old releases into nice looking little box.
Sturdy black box includes 8 standard thickness DVD cases (same cover design as old season boxsets) with 6 DVDs each (bit shorter season 4 contains 4 DVDs).
Unfortunately this release repeats old problems:
- NO SUBTITLES until season 6!!! As House is a medical drama sometimes it's hard to understand medical language (especially for me as English is not my native language) it would be easier with subs. You would think that in 2012 HOH subtitles should be standard, but not for good old Universal.
- Season 1 again in ridiculous FULL FRAME!!! (Universal released Widescreen version in US why not re-release it in UK?)
Shame Universal UK for treating your customers like dirt.
Series itself deserves 5 stars. Hugh Laurie is brilliant as always and even in bit lousy last season it's still watchable, but Universal for not correcting old errors deserves no stars. Disgrace.
Universal Playback is definitely poor brand.

Well, i don't really care about pakcage itself, so i skip the part about "not enough nice dvd design". But the worst part was that when i ordered the product, i was looking for something WITH subtitles. But from All the box-sets it was the only one that "had" subtitles in english! Or, in this case - it's obviously just something amazon writes to get things sold. It turns out that there are subtitles in easons 6-8, but what should we do untill then??? As many people here have said, it's kinda hard to just listen medical language, specially for people who doesn't have english as native language. SHAME on producents and amazon for wrong information! They should have written it in ad that the subtitles start on late seasons.

It's House! What's not to love? The DVD box set arrived in perfect condition, loved the amount of protective packaging they used. The packaging took all the damage. All discs are present and I love it! All the discs are in English so I have had no problem watching them. This brilliant collection enables me to re-watch my favourite episodes again and again. Brilliant story-lines and excellent character development. As I say, it's House!

I've chosen this box instead of the one offered on the US amazon site as it offers special features per season. Yet to my surprise, there are no subtitles for the first 5 seasons! Although it might be considered by some not so important but its a box for an iconic TV series contaiing all seasons so i believe such small features and additions make a big difference and show that it has been well-thought.

Apart from the subtitles thing, the box offers good value, some seasons are loaded wih special features and behind the scenes clips even per DVD!

I've done my research and i can assure all House fans that this is the best you could get for house in the market - at least for now.

it's such good TV that I had to buy it, to see seasons 7 and 8 which Sky didn't have the rights to. Sky runs shows from first to last then restarts from the beginning again, yet the elusive last two seasons were clearly not going to appear.

So I could buy those on DVD and that'd be that - but for good stuff I'm a bit of a completest, so elected to look for a boxed set at a decent price. And got it, too.

I was sorry to see it end, because quality of this stature is seldom found, in either UK or US.

Overall the standard of House in terms of clever scripting, imaginative plotlines (which do get a bit crazy more than once) and well drawn characterisations, is very high indeed. Yes, it has its lows like any long running series, but House's lows are above most shows' highs, - way above.

But. There's usually a but. And there's a couple of buts for me. first is, DVD presentation could be better, lots better. My hearing could be better, and sometimes I need to use subtitles - those don't appear for the first several seasons. Why? There seems little excuse for that, except perhaps cost of production.

And the added extras are all over the place, and can best be described as scanty.

The colour balance in Season 1 is very strange, with a bronze colour cast evident. Why not correct this? With modern movie editing software that's not hard to do. Yet it wasn't done. Lazy production, cheap production.

However, these are minor points.

I don't think it's possible to make any relevant comment about House without singling out Hugh Laurie, whose past TV exposure has been in alternative comedy shows with Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson, and of course his close friend Steven Fry.
