Product Description

Product Description

In the quiet Austrian town of Amstetten in the balmy spring of April 2008, a truly horrifying vision of hell was discovered by police in the cellar of a normal suburban home. On 28 August 1984, seemingly respectable family man Josef Fritzl had lured Elisabeth, the youngest of his seven children, into the cellar of their family home, where he then drugged and handcuffed her in a windowless dungeon he'd spent years constructing. For the next 24 years Josef held his daughter captive in unimaginable conditions and repeatedly raped her, fathering seven children. When the eldest captive child, Kerstin, was admitted to hospital, Josef's sickening web of incest and abuse was uncovered by the authorities. This is the full and utterly disturbing true story of what happened in those underground chambers of horror.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pointless, 4 Nov 2008
By Shakesjavelin (United Kingdom.) - See all my reviews
There is absolutely nothing to be gleaned from this opportunistic waste of paper and ink - which has not been published or transmitted by any reliable source of news on this tragic story.
Elizabeth and her 'cellar children' have thankfully refused to nourish the voyeuristic desires of the media - the only interviews they have given were to the police and health care professionals.
The claim by the author of this book that the 'full story' is revealed are blatantly untrue.
Personally, I hope that Elizabeth and her children are left in peace to reconstruct their lives and never succumb to the pressure or financial enticements to disclose what is and should remain private.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish!, 24 April 2009
Reading this book would be a waste of your vauable time. It is based purley on speculation and to be honest I got bored half way through.

I wish Elzabeth and her children all the very best and am ashamed that I purchased this book and lined the pocket of Mr Cawthourne.
