I think "House Of Fury" is another great title from "Cine Asia", or as I've come to think of them as "Hong Kong Legends 2", which any ture Kung Fu film fan will know is a honor. Following on from recent titles from "Cine Asia", (such as "Chocotate", "Fatal Contact" & the excellent "An Empress and the Warriors") this film also has a great story, top cast & most importantly striking martial arts action.
A little about the story. This film is about a father & ex-secret service agent (Anthony Wong) who likes to tell tall-tales of his adventures to anybody who will listen, much to the dislike of his son & daughter. His kids think his exciting tales of his youth are epic fables to impress, that is until a shady agent (Micheal Wong) from the past is out for revenge, putting his family & friends in harms way.
I think Anthony Wong is great in this film as a secret agent & father, you get the real sense of believability of a father who is finding it hard bring up his children after his wife's death, waist also being totaly believable as a retried agent.
But its the action that I remember the most, which was choreographed by master Yuen Wo ping (Kill Bill, The Matrix Trilogy). Wo Ping is still able to keep his trademark wire martial arts fresh & funny, aiding the flow of the story.
Jackie Chan is also producer of this film & it shows, some of the fight scenes do have a classic Chan kung fu comedy feel to them, which only adds to the greatness of the action on screen. My favorite being the homage to Bruce Lee's nunchaku fight from "Fist of Fury", very funny indeed!
So, why not give it a go! This will brighten up anybody's comedy/martial arts DVD collection.
