Ruth Matthews (Kathleen Turner) is forced to take her family to Carolina after the death of her husband. Her six-year-old daughter Sally then retreats into a seemingly irreversible silence, until Ruth discovers a house of cards which could represent a key with which she can unlock Sally's closed mind.
I don't understand why this film has been certificated 15. It is more like a PG. Definitely overated.
This film is not your average kind of film. It's fascinating, but some may find it boring due to the fact that there isn't any action in it whatsoever. Our main focus is on young Sally who is locked in her own World where her family are unable to communicate with her. Frequently she encounters dangerous situations and therefore the authorities are brought in to help when they send Tommy Lee Jones.
I really enjoyed watching it and still do love it.
