More About the Author

I was born and still live in the ancient city of Vilnius though I no longer walk in the abandoned cemeteries after dark. I am happily married for 12 years with two kids and it easy to see where my inspiration comes when you translate names of my wife and kids from Lithuanian - Morning Dew, Summer and Westerly Wind. We also own the dog named Eagle who leads his life in belief that one day he will be able to soar and reach those pesky squirrels in the trees.

Having my own TV show on national television for more than ten years I suppose made me a minor celebrity locally which actually means that I get disapproving glances whenever I buy beer at a supermarket. No swooning ladies under the feet, unfortunately.

I love travelling, playing online poker and sports (have completely lost my head about both kinds of football - American NFl and English Premier League. My favourite team is Newcastle United), yet books have been and still are my biggest passion.

I have translated The Lord of the Rings into Lithuanian as well several books by Terry Pratchett (boy, that was THE hardest work I have ever done) and this year debuted as an author with my very own Hour of the Wolf.

Currently I am working on the second book of my Steam and Stone Saga "Day of the Plague" and writing Steam and Stone comic series.

Some of my favorite things:

Authors - J.R.R. Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, Terry Pratchett, Mikhail Bulgakov

Movies - "The Lord of the Rings", "Star Wars", "Pulp Fiction", "The Matrix"

TV series - "Game of Thrones", "West Wing", "Lost", "Person of interest", "Californication"

There's a few rough spots in translation, and the fragmented storytelling style pulls focus away from the characters, but it's well worth reading for the vivid settings. You get a sense of perspective from basically every person you encounter, that add up to a different facet of the bigger picture.

It's a slow read- the tone is very dense, and it can take a while to finish even a short chapter. It's not the sort of tone I usually prefer, but it works exceedingly well in context. I'm not much of a fan of the steampunk genre, but I really enjoyed this.

Fresh breath of air in Lithuanian literature. Free from melancholy, existential ramblings and overstretched storylines. Excellent mix of history and science fiction. Fast moving, unpredictable and highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but the ending should be better. 3 Nov. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Well, I don't know what to say about this book. In general, I kinda like it, however I was dissapointed with the end of it. It seems like the author was in hurry to finish writing, as he was tired of the whole story himself. All story is quite interesting, the line and characters, but I really expected more intellectual (if I can say so) ending of the story, as it seems childish for me. However, would recommend it to the Steampunk fans.
