Harry Pearson is versatile writer. Although best known for his witty newspaper columns about football his previous books have been on a diverse variety of subjects - football, travel by internet, toy soldiers, Belgium and country fairs. All different but all very entertaining.
In this his latest book he as chosen to write about his life in the country. The main characters of his latest book are dogs, primarily the authors own - Little Man (aka Manny) and its predecessor, Ingo - but also the various dogs owned by his relatives and his fellow villagers.
It is a pleasant enough read but the humour is a little more gentle than I have come to expect from the author. Indeed, the dogs and the countryside setting gave the book a bit of a 'James Herriott' feel to it.
I suspect therefore this book will appeal more the James Herriott readership than those who have enjoyed Harry Pearsons previous books.
