From Amazon.co.uk

The one film in John Cusack's filmography he'd probably like us all to forget, this 80s-style preppy-in-peril film (compare and contrast with After Hours and Something Wild) casts him as a college student who gets mixed up with pirates and drug runners around the Caribbean. The wannabe screwball comedy falls flatter with each gag but Cusack's hang-dog sweetness and knack with one-liners carries it through and at the very least it's worth catching if only for a glimpse of Ben Stiller in his pre-There's Something About Mary fame days, in a double act here with his real-life father Jerry Stiller. --Leslie Felperin

Product Description

All-round nice guy Danny (John Cusack) has been planning an idyllic Caribbean holiday with girlfriend Lori (Wendy Gazelle) for months - what could possibly go wrong? First off Danny misses the plane, and his attempts to catch up with Lori lead him into jail, the depths of a jungle, a hurricane and a hijacking, with only the roguish Captain MacLean (Robert Loggia) for companionship.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Early Cusack Classic 9 Sep 2009
By underthethumb VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
This is a typically styled 80's teen comedy starring John Cusack in one of his first films. He plays with his usual comedic talent as he first fails his exams in school stopping him going on holiday with his girlfriend and her family. After getting past that he follows to meet them there with disastrous and very funny adventures along the way.

The film also includes a very young looking Ben Stiller and marks the first time he and his father are in a film together.

The film has been transferred to DVD very well but unfortunately it is lacking in extras.

If you grew up in the 80's watching these films then this will be a great nostalgia trip.

I hope someone can answer my question.(missing scenes on vhs are they on dvd!)
I have this on cinema club vhs tape,on the back cover, theres 2 pictures of scenes from the film that are not on this vhs version.
I have seen this before and i want it on dvd.
The first scene(picture)is of ben stiller talking to john cusaks characters girlfriend, befrending her.
The second scene(picture) is that of john cusack with a parrot on his shoulder, and cusak has a bandana on,i remember seeing this scene ages ago on sky,i think its when hes with robert loggia(the mad captain)on the boat after saving loggia from drowning. Can and will anyone help as this sort of thing drives me bonkers!!Oh and its not a bad film at all,not his best, but if you saw it in the eighties,it might bring back some memorys!A good laugh!!Please help me out!!
