5.0 out of 5 stars "Greasy Plate Stomp"? Count me in, Pops!!! 24 Jan 2007
By David Squires - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This CD is chock-full of up-tempo swing and hot jazz recordings performed by bands you probably haven't heard of. Like "Greasy Plate Stomp" by Trombone Red & His Blue Six from 1931. Yowsuh! It's lovingly compiled and remastered by true music buffs. Just like you & me. Lately I've noticed more & more extremely rare music being released for the first time. This includes everything from rural blues & hillbilly to hot jazz to rockabilly. My theory about this wondrous onslaught of record collector's dreams is that people are coming to terms with their mortality & want to share their rarest treasures.Music lovers worlwide will be the beneficiaries. And "Hot Flashes" is a perfect example.Happy listening!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING 25 Jan 2007
By Neil Godfrey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Really good music let down by extremely poor overprocessed sound restoration. I have all these tracks on various old LPs and the sound on this is no improvement and in most cases worse. Not in the class of reissue labels like Jazz Oracle, Retrieval, Timeless or Frog. A great shame!
