On first listening you may be disappointed (Track 1 is not particularly inspiring but sits neatly as a great opener), but persevere and this album may just become a personal favourite. The (repetitive) 70's glam samples have been replaced by an astoundingly eclectic series of tracks. The almost beautiful classic melancholy 'Beautiful Crazy' to the 70's garage rock sound of 'Middlesboogie' (are they really singing "Jim, Jim, gimme a wheelspin"?) are strokes of pure genius. Don't expect to be dancing around your kitchen for 50 odd minutes, but stick this on in a crowded room and I guarantee you'll get people asking about it.
Some albums you play twice and consign to CD limbo; some you just keep coming back to. This is one of those. Come on you other reviewers, give it another listen and you may just surprise yourselves - I've bought this album for people and it's always been a success. I can't wait to see what this bunch of nutters do next - and take note rest of Skint crew (especially you, Mr. Slim) this is how to really progress your sound - they deserve to run and run. Crap sleeve though.
